| Gerson Sanginitto
has been involved in the entertainment industry for a
long time. He started acting at the age of fourteen and
by twenty had already participated in ten plays. He then
entered the most prestigious and competitive theatre school
and company in Brazil, “O Tablado – established
by Maria Clara Machado” where he continued to act
in lead roles, produce, and eventually direct. Gerson
developed a passion for directing and went on to pursue
a degree in film production with the goal of becoming
a film director.
As a film student, he has consistently
directed many projects, his own and from fellow students.
Gerson’s short film “Contend” is entering
the festival route, and his most recent work “The
TV Broke” is in post-production. His hard work and
dedication has given him a reputation that consistently
generates work offers. Besides directing student films,
he has produced and directed PSA’s, television programs,
instructional martial-arts videos, and documentaries.
Gerson’s perseverance comes from
the discipline of his martial arts background. He achieved
two 2nd degree black belts, one in Judo and one in Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu. He believes in constantly improving, so his
next step has been to direct his first feature film. “MCF:
Maximum Cage Fighting” combines two of his passions:
filmmaking and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This independent production,
about no-holds-barred fighters, will be shot in Rio de
Janeiro and in Los Angeles starting in August 2005.
“MCF” is a marketable film
that will provide opportunities for more features to come.
Gerson’s desire is to build his career by gaining
ground, one film at a time.
